2000 AD: THE YEAR OF THE HORSE?
(23/6 1999 - Hot Press - by Peter Murphy)

In rock'n'roll, the law courts are usually the scene of recriminations rather than reunions. Yet, less than a month ago, some 19 years after sundering as a result of differences in musical policy, Horslips found themselves being regarded as a band again, albeit in a business rather than a musical sense.

After the adjudication, the group, relieved and jubilant, adjourned to a Belfast hostelry (symbolically, the city played host to Horslips' final gig) for dinner and drinks. Within 24 hours rumours of a reunion had begun to circulate.

Imagine it - Horslips at Slane for the millennium! Five nights at The Point in December! Certainly, the timing has never been better.

It would be fitting, in the midst of the post-Riverdance pre-millennial Keltic renaissance, that the masters should return: Horslips were a band who really did make trad horny, at once revering and roughing up their heritage.

We can only wait and see.
